1911

Today we learned about the tragidy of 1911. In 1911 girls had to work in textile mills and the sad part is they were only KIDS! In 1911, girls had to work in textile mills and they would get really bad coughs! Sometimes they lost fingers and the mill bosses would dock their pay for missing any work for sickness or ANYTHING! If they were late for even one minute they would dock their pay, if they missed work for a day because they were sick they would dock their pay. To top it all off they got paid a little amount. The reason for that is because the bosses thought that if they got paid a lot, the workers would kind of slack off thinking that they didn’t have to try their best to get the money. Later one evening the textile mill cought on fire because of a mishap with a machine. A couple of girls couldn’t get out of the door because the bosses had locked the door so they couldn’t quit and just leave in the middle of a work day. The girls had no choice but to jump out of the window while fire fighters down low had a net for them to fall in. When they all jumped out of the window they fell into the net and it had broke! They had fallen to their death.
